St. Thomas Aquinas

An Italian saint, born in the thirteenth century, St. Thomas Aquinas is well-known as an influential academic and a scholar. Artworks in stained glass often show him holding a book or scroll, and he is understandably the patron saint of all universities and students. His feast day is January 28th. From the young age of five, Thomas was sent to study under the Benedictines of Monte Casino. He surprised his teachers by making great progress beyond his peers, not only academically, but also in piety and virtue. He continued to study throughout his life and was awarded a Doctorate at the age of 31. At University he was given the nickname “Dumb Ox” referring to his silent demeanour and his huge stature. Nevertheless, the distinguished writings of St. Thomas Aquinas became highly sought after and in fact for many years formed the core part of the required program for priests in training. Should you need a stained glass window or door panel of this saint for your church library, study area or university hallway, we can help you design and create whatever you have in mind.
