St. Adele Stained Glass

St. Adele was born in Germany and lived during the eighth century AD. She was born a princess, her father being King Dagobert II. When her husband died leaving her a widow, St. Adele became a nun and founded a convent near Trier. She became the first Abbess there and was known for her holiness, prudence and compassion as she ruled the abbey. She was also one of the disciples of St. Boniface, the Apostle of Germany. She died in 730 AD having lived a devout life of communion with God and good works towards men. The feast day of St. Adele is commemorated on December 24th.
