St. Simon
St. Simon or Simeon (also spelled Symeon) of Jerusalem was a Jewish Christian leader of the first century. He is mentioned in the Bible as the son of Cleopas, the brother of St. Joseph. This would make him the first cousin of our Lord Jesus. According to most Christian traditions, St. Simon became the second Bishop of Jerusalem after his brother St. James the Lesser was martyred by the Jews. In the early second century, St. Simon was brought before the Roman governor Atticus who condemned him to death and had him tortured and crucified. According to tradition Simon had reached the age of one hundred and twenty. His feast day is February 18th. In church art and stained glass windows, St. Simon is often depicted with a saw, the instrument with which he was martyred.
