St. Agnes Stained Glass

St. Agnes of Rome is the patron saint of chastity, gardeners, engaged couples, rape victims, virgins and Children of Mary. She is depicted in art and stained glass accompanied by a lamb, as her name is similar to the Latin word for lamb (agnus). The brief life of St. Agnes was one of purity and devotion as she was martyred at the tender age of thirteen. Agnes had made a promise to God to remain pure. Despite many offers of marriage, her response would be, “Jesus Christ is my only Spouse”. She disliked sin more than death and was required to pay the ultimate sacrifice for her faith in 304 AD when she was martyred. It is said that she was praying as she bowed her head for the death-stroke of the sword. There are over 75 Catholic churches in the USA named after St. Agnes. Her feast day is commemorated on January 21st. Should you wish to have a stained glass representation of the young girl St. Agnes and her lamb to enhance your youth meeting hall, chapel, church, or home, we would be glad to assist you to choose and create the perfect design.
