St. Agatha Stained Glass

St. Agatha lived in the Third Century AD in Sicily and was martyred for her faith as a young woman of twenty. Her memorial is on February 5th, and she is one of seven who are commemorated by name in the Canon of the Mass. She was born into a rich family, and at an early age she committed herself to a devout life of purity. When she refused the advances of a man named Quintian, he brought upon her all manner of vile persecutions in a vain attempt to frighten and force her to renounce her faith. One of these tortures was to cut off St. Agatha’s breasts, and she is sometimes seen in stained glass windows carrying her breasts on a plate. She is, therefore, the patroness of breast cancer patients, wet nurses, and martyrs. There are 23 Catholic churches in the USA named after St. Agatha. If you would like to commemorate this noble saint in your home or place of worship, we can assist you in your choice of a fitting stained glass window or door panel.
