Stained Glass Art Honors New Saint Pope John Paul II

Two new saints will take their places in the Catholic Church in late April, 2014, according to Pope Francis, who recently announced the canonization of former Popes John Paul II and Pope John XXIII.

Beloved and revered by Catholics across the globe, Pope John Paul II is known as a gregarious, affable leader who strengthened the Church’s role in society and who led the world’s Catholics from 1978 until 2005.  In honor of this new saint, stained glass artists in the studios of Stained Glass Inc. are designing several new pieces of stained glass art to celebrate the life and work of the new Saint John Paul II.

The first Pope of Polish descent, and the first non-Italian pope for more than 400 years, Pope John Paul II, born Karol Wojtyła in Poland, was respected worldwide for his outspoken guidance on matters of government and global leadership, including a fierce opposition to communism as well as the inherent greed of capitalism.  He was known for his friendly demeanor, his frequent visits to Catholics around the world and his fearless leadership of the Catholic Church as it moved forward to take its place in a modern world.

During his papacy, this soon to be sainted Pope became a world influence, working to significantly improve the church’s relations with other Christian and non-Christian religions, and supported the Second Vatican Council, which included major church reforms, while upholding longstanding Catholic traditions.  His dedication to securing the Catholic Church’s stance as a force for world peace is his legacy.
